Narrated Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with him], Allah's Messenger [may Allah's peace be upon him] said:
"Woman was created from a bent rib. If you want to enjoy her, you enjoy her while she is still bent. If you will try to straighten her, you will break her."
[Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim]
Subhan Allah, look how gentle our beloved Rasulullah was with women. He knew that the woman is delicate and sensitive. Trying to "fix" her or demanding too much of her whether it's through being too strict or degrading her in any way will make her distressed. Trying to "straighten" her will break her.
